Project GTCM is a national effort, led by the GeoTech Center (http://geotechcenter.org) to develop leading-edge curriculum based upon the Department of Labor's new Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM). Our aim is to develop a set of course pack outlines and assessment tools that allow community college educators to assess their own curriculum while developing new material, based upon industry standards. The Center has committed to complete a "Model Geospatial Certificate" outline of courses and their required and recommended Student Learning Outcomes content by August 31, 2012.
GTCM
The Model Geospatial Certificate may consist of the following courses:
1. Introduction to Spatial Awareness and Geospatial Technology (Ken Yanow, Southwester Community College lead researcher)
2. Introduction to Geospatial Technology (Chris Semerjian, Gainesville State College lead researcher)
3. Spatial Analysis (Amy Ballard, Central New Mexico Community College lead researcher)
4. Data Acquisition and Management (Rodney Jackson, Edgecombe Community College lead researcher)
5. Introduction to Remote Sensing (Chris Semerjian, lead researcher)
6. Geospatial Scripting & Programming for GIS (Vince DiNoto, Jefferson Technical and Community College lead researcher)
7. Internship and Capstone Course (Ken Yanow, lead researcher)
